Empowering Quality Improvement of Physician PracticeS Through Design

Understanding Practice Needs and Physician Culture

Design Challenge:

The Pediatric Health Improvement Initiative of Tennessee (PHiiT) set out to enhance the practice and adoption of quality improvement initiatives in pediatric practices across East Tennessee. The notion was to better understand practice culture, and the barriers that exist for engaging in quality improvement (QI) efforts and accelerating practice innovation.

Solution:

The Institute mapped the experience of engaging in the QI program through PHiiT, developing a suite of tools for driving a culture of engagement. Practices were provided with journey maps and resources for fostering value in QI through the lens of design.

Deliverables:

  • Insight from contextual research and interviews to inform the development of practice journey maps, messaging and content, tools, and resources both practice- and patient-facing.
